Shearer looks at the typical day in the life of a shearer, it explains the shearing process, equipment required and team dynamics as well as the environmental, science and health links, such as wool fibres, friction, building relationships and competition shearing.
Shearer is part of a series of books aimed at reluctant teenage readers and students who have learning difficulties. Since these students generally have good practical skills, a different practical Kiwi career features in each book. The books have also been designed to show the links between everyday life and the content taught at school.
