This photocopiable book for Year 7-8 students takes four high interest disasters and shows the impact that they have had on peoples lives. The four disasters studied in this resource are: a natural disaster - tornadoes; a medical disaster - the 1918-1919 'flu pandemic; a military disaster - the Gallipoli campaign; and a seventeenth century disaster - the great fire of London. Each of the units contains a series of resource pages that students will find interesting, informative and accessible. The information combines 'eyewitness' accounts, stories, graphs, statistics, fact files, interviews, pictures and maps. Each unit concludes with a series of student activities for inquiry, values exploration, and decision-making designed to help students interpret the information.
