Elementary Art introduces junior primary students to the language and terminology of art as they progress in drawing, painting and creating. The activities in the resource will develop a sound art vocabulary with the intention of enabling them both to plan their own art more effectively and communicate the stories they want to share both verbally and visually. Topics covered include: Line, Shape, Texture, Colour, Pattern, Form, Tone, and Symmetry. Each section contains a variety of practical art exercises as well as a selection of further activities that can be used to reinforce the concepts of the unit while linking them back to a wide range of other curriculum areas.
